PODCAST: From musician to philanthropist, Henry Kapono shares aloha around the world

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Like everyone else in the music industry, when the pandemic first hit, Henry Kapono had to pivot.

The Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner, who had played live music at Duke’s Waikiki on Sundays for decades, decided to take the shows to his house and do livestream performances from there.

But on top of livestreams, he also grew the Henry Kapono Foundation, a way to raise money in support of Hawaii’s music industry.

HONOLULU (HI Now) - “It’s not only a concert, its about getting people to come together,” says legendary artist Henry Kapono. The Home in the Islands: A Henry Kapono and Friends Concert will happen on June 18 at the Waikiki Shell, and will feature some of Hawaii’s amazing talent like Alex Kawakami, Tavana, Kala’e Parish, upcoming artist rredbeatt, and much more. Through this concert, $1 from each ticket and 25% of the proceeds will go to the Henry Kapono Foundation to help support and empower the music industry in Hawaii.
